My first test flights of the Exceed RC MIG-15 50 mm ducted fan ARF jet. I have my Mother video recording to add to the fun! Must have crashed 8 times and flew for 30 seconds. It needs extensive modifications which I am working on right now.

  • I had similar issues with my 50mm Panther. I learned that it should not be thrown, but instead just needs a gentle lob toss, like lobbing a football to someone 20 feet away. I have had more than 100 wonderful flights with it since I learned that valuable lesson

  • Hello GamerSipes. That might have worked with your jet but this piece of crap is soooo underpowered that a gentle toss would stall it immediately to the ground! Thanks for the info though, I will use that when I get a correctly powered jet.

  • Another issue with ALL jets is the rotor diameter (S- factor) is so low. The efficiency at launch speed is around 30% and tops off to 50% at full speed. Theses drive systems are so inefficient compared to a 6-4 or larger prop. Did you ever wonder why a identical celled plane flies twice as long as a jet?

  • Go with the CoG 80mm-85mm from where the wing meets the fus. I had to add almost 28gr in the nose to get it to balance. Toss it more less straight out. It dosen't have enough speed to controll if it starts to pitch up. (spin of death). Great Mom you got there :)

  • thanks reamuz. I now have made so many mods to this plane I hardly recognize it anymore but now it fly's perfect. My Mom is a great sport to help me out...

  • That second throw was perfect. Did you lose your orientation? I've learned that you have to fly earlier in the day and NEVER with the sun in your face!

  • Hello jEduardoj3rd. There was a warp in the wing and I did not have time to give right aileron trim. It is fast jet and your response time has to be much quicker. I have 40 years RC airplane flying experience and a small plane pilots license, but this is my fist jet.
