Explore Research at the University of Florida: Plant biologist Dave Clark describes UF's goal of creating flowers that appeal to people's senses. His research has shown that when given a flower, a person's first instinct is to look at the flower, followed by the compulsion to smell it. If a person has a pleasant interaction with the smell of a flower, he or she will spend more time with it. Clark wants to create flowers that look and smell better, and stay fresh longer, ultimately influencing how people interact with them.
