is this in a special animal paark or are they wandering around freely???

@tunsiCA94 They actually roam around the town freely! You don't see lots of them in the more commercial areas, although technically they are free to go there. The majority tend to stick to the parks and temples where people congregate and hence feed them deer biscuits. It's just the most amazing, serene place. The temples themselves are very cool - with the added bonus of these amazing creatures roaming around everywhere. We went to Nara on our first trip to Japan and had to make a return trip.

what are they eating?

@LostFREEDOM Special deer biscuits that you can buy all over Nara. They are hard, wafery things - not sure what they're made of. Their Japanese name is shika sembei.
