Iraqis recount human cost of war

More than 4,000 US soldiers were killed and tens of thousands more injured after nearly nine years of war in Iraq. But the number of Iraqi civilians killed in the conflict is much higher.

There are no official statistics -- but according to the latest estimates, more than a hundred thousand innocent Iraqis were killed during and after the US-led invasion of 2003. Some estimates even put that number at a million.

Al Jazeera's Omar Al Saleh reports from the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.

I am a friend of America and deeply regret how easily they played away their moral integrity... Nothing, absolutely nothing in Christian faith justifies dropping bombs on uninvolved people's houses.

@StopTheElite Of course 160,000 is a lot but there's a huge difference between that and 600,000. One is the truth and the other is propaganda And the deaths directly attributable to the US is about 15,000-20,000. Obviously that's still a lot, but it's a far cry from what people like you would like to portray the US as. Besides, Saddam Hussein himself would have killed more over that same period of time. The majority of the deaths over the past 8 years were from terrorist suicide bombings or IEDs
