I put Garmin Oregon 300 in washbowl with water. I forgot to switch it on and show it survived, but you can believe me - it is really waterproof (in contrast to Colorado). The other test was accomplished on bicycle during strong rain.

  • @raize2k i still wouldn't trust it. my friend's got messed up just from his kayak paddles splashing it. it never even was submerged. he contacted garmin and they said that he shouldn't take it kayaking without a waterproof bag...i just don't trust their ratings. light rain is the only thing i'll trust it in.

  • I don't understand why people are worried about this not being waterproof or saying he is brave to do this. The units are rated by Garmin to be submersed in 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes (IPX7 waterproof rating) and are made to be dunked in water. All Garmin handhelds and some automotive units are made to this standard. It's not that big of a deal.

  • you can buy a floating attachment. They are made for cameras but they work for gps too

  • Why doesn't Garmin make a floating Oregon?

  • Try TURNING IT ON BEFORE PUTTING IT IN THE WATER......LOOKS LIKE YOU FRIED THE DAMN THING......AND WERE YOU SQEEZING IT WHEN YOU TOOK IT OUT????? AND SPLASHING IT WITH WATER WHILE IT WAS UNDER WATER..........

  • That's a sizable set of gonads you got there. FYI though, when doing a proof video such as this one, your generally not supposed to cut away from scenes, but rather film 1 long take, because its impossible for viewers to know if the unit at the end is the same one.

    Thanks for the video though!

  • You're on brave man! Or wasn't it yours, in which case you'd be one nasty fellow.

  • turn it on you noob

  • how stupid is that.
