Hixson's book is not only the most readable, the clearest, and most concise book on what the gospel is and is not that I have read, it continues to serve as a reference work to which I return again and again. Hixson accomplishes a rare feat in today's theological world: he is both sharply analytical and interesting. If you want one book on the subject of the gospel which says it all and says it well, this is it! Dr. Mike Halsey, President Free Grace Seminary, Atlanta, GA Dr. Hixson offers a detailed analysis of the current climate of confusion which has so many disoriented concerning the gospel by which we are saved. With the backdrop of postmodernism's tentacled grip on what can be truly known, Hixson invites the reader to both re-think and re-affirm his own understanding and expression of The Gospel. .If you care about a clear gospel, then you will want to add Getting the Gospel Wrong to the truth shelf in your library. Dr. Fred R. Lybrand, Author and Senior Pastor Northeast Bible Church, Garden Ridge, TX J. B. Hixson serves as the Executive Director of Free Grace Alliance. The mission of the Free Grace Alliance is to connect, encourage and equip the body of Christ to advance the grace message throughout the world. He also teaches Theology at Grace School of Theology in The Woodlands, TX and Free Grace Seminary in Atlanta, GA. He earned his B.A. from Houston Baptist University, Th.M. from Dallas Theological Seminary, and Ph.D. from Baptist Bible Seminary. Dr. Hixson has been involved in church ministry since 1987 including four pastorates in Texas and Illinois, and he served as guest-faculty at the Bryansk Bible Institute in Bryansk, Russia. J. B. and his wife Wendy live with their six children in Tomball, TX. For more information about Dr. Hixson's ministry, please visit www.notbyworks.org.

This is one of the most in-depth, eye opening books I have read. Dr. Hixon disects several modern day misunderstandings of the Gospel. This books serves as a great answer to the current social questions of "what is truth?" and "what must I do to be saved?"

  • @kingcletusthecatfish It's actually James brother of Jesus speaking in James Chapter 2 verse 19 for what it is worth.

  • @WTU208 What devil can believe and get eternal life? This comparison is crazy plus if you read the context of the verse you roughly paraphrased it's obvious that the speaker who says "Even the demons believe" is not Paul but a hypothetical objective voice Paul creates which he refutes. If you can't understand who is speaking how can you hope to understand what the words mean?

  • The devil 'believes' in Jesus in that he knows he exists. Believe and follow are 2 different things.

  • Thanks God for a "free grace" message: Salvation by grace through faith... Faith alone in Christ alone for eternal life... Justification by faith in Christ... Jesus guarantees eternal life to all who simply believe in him... Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved... He that believeth on me HATH everlasting life

  • The gospel of salvation is summed up in 1 Corinthians 15:1-5, we enter into the reality of that gospel through faith, we are crucified with Christ, burried with him and risen with him, that is the power of the gospel

  • Thanks for the clear presentation of the Gospel of Jesus. John 3:16 is so clear. Why do others add anything to it? Allow the Bible to speak for itself. Preach on, Dr Hixson!

  • I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, Faith alone in Christ alone. There are no good works that can get you into Heaven. Thats the reason why Jesus came to live on earth and sacrifice. Humble ourselves before God. Philipians 2:5 says "Have this attitude in yourselves which is also in Christ Jesus." So we can have faith in Christ that He is our great savior and we will get into Heaven. And always remember that He not only takes you from going to Hell, but saves you to and even greater place.

  • i was the 1001st viewer xD

  • I met JB Hixon, when came to speak at our church (Duluth Bible Church) in Duluth, MN. I appreciate his stand against Lordship Salvation and other attempts to add works to the gospel. If you add one work to grace, it is not grace. The only response to the gospel is to BELIEVE.

  • Good video & book!

The comment by strugglingalong makes me sad. I feel bad for you. I assume you're just another believer angered that God would give you something free. How miserably prideful! You're mad about this and then probably go to church and read John 3:16 and sing "Jesus paid it all." Is the inconsistency not obvious? Thankfully, God doesn't need good works to save us, because you would have digressed with your shameful attitude.

Praise to the God that saves those who believe in Him!
