@tymjar "And such is the state of the arts in the U.S., in these times..."
Not just the US, the whole world.
Not just these times, since the inception of time and art.
Intellectual and art music are always forced to play second fiddle to popular and folk music. If all those folks had an understanding of music - they'd be quite as mice, or as quiet as folks in a classical concert.

Some ppl don't listen or care past a point of the performers music but they are the first to ask if you can bring your guitar over to share what you do. Strange appreciation Oh well some are too busy massaging egos rather than get down with harmonizing to the music that is presented before thine face. Let see if we can be louder than the musician! What a great jazz guitarist though. The price is going up next time they ask to play! haha

My religious leaning aside. The transcendent swell of emotions that are felt listening to a musician perform in the most quotidian of spaces of all, a cafe, are unparalleled. And when the musician in the corner of the cafe looks up from his or her most intimate journeys in sound and meets our eyes, that is truly something special. No matter how famous or esteemed that musician is, when he or she notices that his or her music is being appreciated amidst the chatter... he or she is ALWAYS touched!

We often bicker about the crowd, but let's be selfish for a moment. How many of us have been lucky enough to be one of the few musicians or music aficionados in the audience in intimate settings of a cafe. While all the others in the room may chatter in the room and talk of private pitty-patter, we look on memorized by some shaman preaching beautiful contra-punctual sermons. I'm sure we've all experienced that. Thanks for givin that experience beagle, and may the sounds of Wyble live on forever

@kevinthebeagle I agree Kevin, they blew the chance to hear a great player by talking about a dress sale at the mall.

Gosh - I hate the "audience" but Jimmy's mastery is sublime!

'audience' is too kind of term. more like ants at a picnic, they should have been dining with their ears and enjoying a most unique pleasure. next time, i will go direct. thx for listening / commenting
