she's got it right - being nice to customers is fun and not hard to do. it's community-building, and smart business. i work at trader joe's, and customer experience is top priority. in my judgment: no wonder we've maintained a "neighborhood market" vibe with 110 stores.

It's hard to overstate how good Helen makes everyone feel who comes into her deli... she creates a bond with her customers. Not a hard concept to understand, hard to deliver, really hard to do it day-in-day-out for as long as she has.
