On June 8, 1924, George Mallory and Andrew Irvine left their tent high up on the slopes of Mount Everest and climbed into history. They were seen at 12:50 pm just 800 feet from the summit and "going strong for the top". Within minutes, Mallory and Irvine had disappeared in a snowstorm and were never seen alive again.

  • One of the most amazing documentaries I have ever seen, thank you

  • @mirika888 varsågod.

  • Fascinating! Thank you for posting.

BTW, you might want to rename '4/5' not '4/4'

  • @duncantoms Glad you could enjoy it, and thanks for pointing that out.

  • They should leave some red or yellow stuff with name of Mallory on the top of his grave. Next climbers should have oportunity to look at this place.

  • @chesspiece1000 They cant bring him down, its far to high.

  • Guys...all of u liked this video must read the novel -- Paths of Glory written by Jeffrey Archer. It is the true story of this guy - George Mallory

  • I am not religous. But i would never disturb a dead body and justify it by saying it's what they would have wanted. They robbed person effects off a dead guy :(

  • @AntiGroupThink norsk?

  • Love the history

  • @mujeebhunzai They examined the body thoroughly, they raised it, examined what was under his body and around, - in fact his eyes were closed, that mean he died slowly, he was in consciousness/

  • It would have been fitting if it had been possible for Mallory's body to be brought back to England and buried with his wife Ruth. It does not seem proper or right that his remains should lie face down on frozen wastleland of Everest. Yeah, I know it won't happen, but he deserved better than this, at least the American guys afforded him his due respect and dignity:

  • Climbing Everest in felt hats, tweed jackets and puttees. These men had balls as big as church bells.

  • @AntiGroupThink svensk?

  • What was the blue and yellow thing cuz I wanna know if they went and looked at that before they went back down
