Has the Counting Crows version become the most popular? I was always a fan of the Amy Grant one, yet again, Joni Mitchell has to be given the credit for writing the thing. I wrote a blog about the song at Regretstories dotcom because it seemed to me that is has more to offer than just the simply warning to be kind to nature.
I wonder how many trees were sent off to museums so that the Mohegan Sun Arena could be built. What profoundly stupid lyrics this song has! The lyrics seem about as sophisticated as something written by a 10 year old girl. I can see why environmentalists love it though. This song makes me want to go out and kill a tree, but I'm inside so I'll just waste a piece of clean paper. (DONE)
