Oh I'm really into Eric Bana just now.. he is absolutely beautiful! : ) He's an extremely hot guy : ) I really love Homer's poetry I've been completely immersed in it with my study of classics. Although this film is inaccurate and I find that offensive, the actors were brilliant. Peter O'Toole.. outstanding : ) He's the best king Priam I've ever seen. And Brad Pitt and Orlando Bloom, Saffron Burrows, etc.. Eric Bana is the most charasmatic Prince Hector I've seen being portrayed. Gorgeous : )

I almost had to cry because of this. Can't imagine what it's to be like if you see your lover is killed by another man. It almost really made me cry.

@kabzy16 ba no, menelaus was fat and he couldnt keep his wife.Anyway the war didnt happen because of helen,it happened because there was one fool who wanted to rule the world hahah
really didn't expect to start crying. go euripides.

Euripedes?
Homer wrote The Illiad.

it was paris' fault. If he hadnt taken away helen, none of this would have happened. Paris is like the idiot throughout the whole film. Hector died because of him, and andromache would have to live alone with her baby.

Except what really happened was the baby was killed and Andromache taken as a slave but you know, film wanted a somewhat happy ending...

None of the events you mention happen in the book. It is later stories by other authors (Euripides and the great Virgil) and as to the baby Astyanax (Virgil, Ovid, Pausanius et al). But not in the Iliad.

To be fair, parts of the movie were also from The Odyssey, not the Iliad.
