Sometimes true, sometimes not. It depends on the situation. If someone is really close (i.e. 7 yards or closer) drawing may not be the smartest thing to do. If you are in something like a bank robbery situation where you are in a group of people with hands up, this drill will help with your reactions.

Carry in the kidney location with an inside the waistband holster, and wear baggy clothes like thick t-shirts and button down shirts (or something equivalent).
