you can not CURE periodontal disease. it it is past the state of superficial gum disease/gingivitis and has begun destroying the bone and other associated structures, you can improve the state of the condition and prevent it from getting worse, but you will never get rid of it. routine care will improve and prevent, not cure.

@mary5709 Just so you are aware, anyone at any age can contract herpes simplex. It doesn't matter that your daughter is a "little girl" as you put it. You mentioned it was a mouth sore virus, so I thought herpes immediately. It's a possibility, but I am not wishing any bad things on your daughter. I hope & wish her (& you) well.
