Stop a Penalty Kick? Well, Don't Get Too Cocky and Celebrate Too Early

In a tense match between Maghreb Fez and FAR Rabat to decide who reaches the quarterfinals of Morocco's Coupe du Trone, they had to go to a penalty shootout to decide a winner. During that shootout, FAR goalkeeper Khalid Askri thought he came up with a big stop and immediately began to celebrate his triumph, turning his back on the goal, patting his chest and kissing his badge in an abundance of pride and dripping self-confidence.

What he didn't see is that the ball had some wicked spin on it and actually bounced back into the goal after his initial block. After some confusion, the referee awarded the goal and Askri's team ended up losing the shootout 7-6.

@PainDealer86 And would if the penalty taker shoot very very hard, the keeper tip it with his finger but the ball passes and hit the net? (look up ibrahimovics free kick vs zaragoza, it's a freekick but its the same idea) It's basicly the same, it takes only more time

@zmekarnofdoom My thought exactly. That should be no goal as the ball is dead after moving towards the other goal. Another example is when the ball hits a post and then ricochets in off the keeper's back.
