I cried like a little girl.

thank you so much for posting this, it was an amazing story and Tom's versatility as an actor never ceases to amaze me, and Benedict seemed like the perfect person to play that role. (I'd also like to add that I'm a 16 year old girl, just to show that not all girls focus on the actors and not the story seeing as that point has been brought up)

Yes, I'm going to say it, Tom Hardy is extraordinary in this. Pure artistry in his performance; and a beautiful, gut-wrenching, thought-provoking film altogether. Cried like a child at several points I must admit, too :S
Thanks for posting this gem, Jo129!

wonder what these pair will achieve in the next few years - both are in everything at the minute.

I think this book and film serve to show people that homeless people are people. Many of them are intelligent, philosophical people with fascinating stories to tell. They're not just dirty layabouts. If only more people would realise this. Rip Stuart, Alexander obviously loved you and cared for you, I hope you found peace wherever you are.

The thing about Hardy, well, he isn't just some hot guy who gets acting jobs because of his looks he actually has an immense talent. Words cannot describe how gifted Tom really is. Same with Benedict, I absolutely lost it when Alexander started crying in the car while listening to the tape. Acting about telling a story, Tom and Ben did it perfectly. I didn't think about Bane or Sherlock when I was watching this, I thought about Stuart and Alexander and their beautiful friendship. Fantastic film.

Bloody Hell. This is such an amazing film. The cinematography is simple, basic, but it's the most poignant film I have ever seen. The dry wit and the humour from the start (I just couldnt stop laughing at Stuart at the beginning :)) but then the humour abruptly begins to drain away as the film prgresses, and you start to see how much emotional trauma Stuart had suffered through out his life, making the film extremely hard hitting & realistic. Yeah Benedict was good, but Tom Hardy outshined him.

Thank you for sharing this with us. I have an urge to go out to a homeless shelter right now and sign up to volunteer!
Been reading the comments throughout...a lot of girls say stuff like "even as a homeless drug-addict Tom Hardy is hot" or "only Tom Hardy could make a character like that sexy". It's so stupid and distressing that this is what they take away from it.
