really wish my dad would listen to this so he could understand how it is for me :'(

This is the first song that has ever actually made me cry. It's like she's singing about my life. This is a song that all abused mothers should hear. Mothers, please don't ever think that staying in an abusive marriage is for the best. It isn't and will never be. Trust me, children will NEVER recover from witnessing/experiencing abuse. No matter how strong you may be.

In 2002 while my daughter was a student at Coastal Carolina in Conway, SC, she drank quite a bit and called me one night crying and asked me to download this song and listen to it..... she said that was her life with her father and me..... I cried so much when I heard this song and realize the damage it did to her. When she was 13 she begged me to leave. Fighting and abuse in a marriage does affect your children.

@original503 i wont either. the depression will always be thin ice for me. its underneath the surface every step you take.
im so fragile from it now.
its hard to think.
its like xtina says shes okay, but she is really not.

@DanofDodorpia No one should be offended. Your early childhood shapes you for the rest of your life. To this day, Aguilera battles with depression.

@livetodancexox You're completely right. No matter what, I will probably never heal from my childhood.

@DanofDodorpia your right. it shapes them into who they are. how they think and with every step the take.
its not something you forget
and nothing anyone can do can balance out for a wound that deep.

This song is so sad!! It gives people a really important message!!!
I am 12 and I am lucky cos there are lots of other children out there who have much much worse lives than me!! Whenever I feel angry at my family I just think of this song and my anger disappears

'Bruises fade father, but the pain remains the same. . I'm okay.'

Such an important message. Kids are really affected by early memories and parents should really take note. Love the way she sings, '...I'm OK...'. It's really powerful! (By the way not wishing to offend any parents out there.)
