  • What do you mean you would *never* shoot in 1080p ? Why would you forsake recording in higher resolution ? Recording at higher resolution doesn't produce shake - the lack of a tripod does. Few video camcorders have effective image stabilization. There are 2 kinds of IS. One is *digital, while the other is *Optical based. My Canon XL H1 camera has full optical IS in the stock 20 X lens. This form of IS works VERY well. Digital IS is useless. You can't expect too much for under $200.00.

  • @avideditor7 I think we are saying the same thing. Of course I want to shoot in 1080p & currently do that with my new camera & tripod. Point was that shooting 1080 in a Zi8 handheld situation is not ideal as the digital stabilization is not effective (only $179). However, I never said the 1080 video wasn't clear to use with a tripod so if that is what you are doing than it's a great solution. Overall the camera was fine to work with at 720 in handheld situations, just fell down indoors. Thanks

  • indoor its bad outdoor its amazing. end of discussion.

  • @Johnnyboybravo agreed, the outdoor video was very clear just fell short inside. I recently purchased a new HD camera rig and will review it this week. thx

  • @projectgadget I'm definitely going to hold out and wait until the new Flip comes out

  • @Jurkowski1987 not a problem, by the way a new flip cam is just around the corner that I just heard about. You shoot in horizontal mode vs. vertical with big screen. I would wait for that one. I have it in my twitter feed @projectgadget

  • @projectgadget Thanks For the Info

  • @Jurkowski1987 Really depends on your use. If you want to film family events, travel, etc. the Flip cam is simple, well designed and dependable. If you are looking for the additional features of higher resolution than the kodak is an option. I like the flip HD models better and expect to see a new batch of cameras by the fall as more options are coming. For handheld shooting, you don't need anything above 720 or you will see the shake in the video and digital zoom is worthless. Try them all.

  • i was going to buy this Friday but now i don't know, what would you recommend as a hand held camera, is the Flip Ultra HD better?
