The first time I heard this it was on Good Friday! I wept. I've seen Nicole Nordeman in concert and she was amazing! This goes out to Jaredlmesser who commented about being discerning, I believe Jesus is portrayed as self-sacrificing in His Death and maybe He didn't have this conversation w/God the Father. Yet, this is not scripture, it's inspirational music! I believe the message in this song is something many Christians have heard. That is; if there was only 1 to die for, He would have!

Brothers and sisters, I say this in love: let's all be discerning. At the expense of good theology, the writer has put words in Jesus' mouth that he would never speak. Jesus is portrayed as an unknowing, unwilling victim of the people; asking God to save Him while on the cross. The scriptures show this to be completely untrue. He did speak, but never these words. No. He was fully God and fully man, dying by intention with full understanding. This song does not elevate Christ, it diminishes Him.

@snsdparadise99 If she worships Satan then he has blinded her eyes & cannot see Christ. If U R a christian U R equipped 2 deal with it. Do this:1) Tell your church 2 pray 4 everyones safety & yours because U have been called 2 pray in spiritual warfare.
2) Put your armour on (Ephesians 6). Pray God puts every piece on.
3) "This kind does not go forth without prayer & fasting". So fast & pray until God gives U a verse of deliverance, then claim the verse in faith & wait 4 God.

@InducedJoy I'm gonna ask U a question which of course U don't have to answer. Why do U think the son of God himself put Himself through that? This was someone who raised the dead, including Himself, walked straight past enemies on many occasions and they couldn't touch Him. He did not have to die, so why did He. If He died for us, then how shall U escape if U ignore so great a salvation. The problem with not making a choice to choose Him as God is that Not choosing is also a choice.

I'm not religious at all, but this song gets me every single time. The suffering of Jesus, whether you believe it or not, is a very powerful story.

Here I am crying and trying to talk some sense in to my grandmother who worships Satan
Our God, is a good God. I look forward to the day where I can stand in-front of thousands and millions of people, and shout out, "I'm in love with a man! And he's name is Jesus!"

I am sobbing. Every time I hear this, I'm crying tears of joy that the God of the universe loved us enough, after all the sin we commit to sacrifice His only Son so that we can have eternal life. Even after being a Christian for years, this still blows my mind.
