Belgian Customs Agency Destroys Shipment of American Sparkling Wine Mislabeled "Champagne"
Funny enough, while ostensibly 'protecting' the appellation of champagne, the French are expanding production of low-quality swill-grade Champagne by increasing the size of their appellation.
Goose, gander.
I used to work for a wine company. Sometimes a bad batch turns up after bottling. The company will pull the entire batch and destroy it rather than allowing it to hit the market and destroy their reputation. To make sure some don't get past Quality Control, they make sure bottle and all are destroyed and recorded. For some reason, this video insinuates that the contents are reused after the bottles are broken. Absolutely not true.
