A song recorded in 1986 by:

Doug Wolters - guitar
Maynard James Keenan - bass and lead vox
Mike Meengs - keys, drum programming and backing vox

A 4-track demo song written in 1986 by Maynard James Keenan form TOOL, A Perfect Circle and Puscifer BEFORE he got involved in his CAD project. In 2001 remixed by Mike Meengs and put on a Turtle Bend album "inder net...ya?. Turtle Bend is an electronic music project by Meengs.
This song is the rarest TOOL/MJK related shit you can find!
Enjoy! :]

  • From 1:55 to 2:23 this breaks into a Joy Division song! Listen to Joy Division's track A Means To An End. I guess that makes sense since bands like NIN/Tool name Joy Division as inspiration.

  • Yeah, you can definetly tell that Maynard listened to Joy Division, and all those rock/electronic/'80 bands. You can clearly hear that in CAD music and in this track even more.

  • I can see Gene Frankel had a hand in this too

  • gene frankel? the broadway guy? how?

  • The cowbell guy from saturday night live

  • hehehehe, now i get it, you meant Gene FRENKLE, yeah, seems you're right, that one part sounds totally like him :]

  • and to think of what is too come after this, it just blows your mind on how one man has so much to say, and how many ways he relays his message

  • Tool is the key to his success... It is through Tool that he got where he is today with his other projects. He probably would have made it some other way without them but Tool is definately something really awesome.

  • This is just great. Maynard is a legend.

  • @mattman337 Funny!

  • This is wicked!!!

  • @nyuguy2k Good ear!

  • I've got a fever...and the only thing that can cure it is more cowbell!

  • Again I say, the internet is a great thing. And thanks for sharing.

  • Devoish seemed dead on. His son is named Devo. I think this song is simply about being your own guide and leader, hence not being a follower. It says in it that leaders were once followers--in other words, learn to think for yourself. FTW.

  • sounds like its about the army
