Tyra Show 03/29/10 Were 7 & 8 Years Old and Know We Are Transgender

Two brave kids share their stories. At only 7 and 8 years old, these children are living as the opposite gender. We'll hear from the kids and their families about what it's like growing up transgender. Later, the two families will get a chance to meet. Then, we get an update on a former guest who has transitioned from girl to boy through the use of hormones. Finally, a heated debate on the subject -- with the executive director of Transyouth Family Allies, plus a transgender doctor and a professor/minister.

  • its so cute how none of their little legs touch the floor

  • @gzus4eva No matter how old the children are, they can still think and they have minds of their own. It's your job to support them and teach them good morals, respect, and give them love, not run they're life and make them how YOU want them. Are you homophobic, too?

  • @gzus4eva It's not that simple. You can't change something that happens in their brain BEFORE the child is born. Would you want you child to hate the way they are and feel uncomfortable in their body until they leave? There is no "correct" path for a gender. Personally, I think gender should be thrown to the wind. That it shouldn't be so predominant in society that it defines who you are, given this, I'm pansexual, but not genderqueer.

  • @SkittlezzIdilzz Trust me, you can feel it. You know. Can't you tell the difference between the tomboys and the boys?

  • @gzus4eva Last thing, when my child grows up to be an adult and IF it is something they choose to do with their life, THEN, I have no control over it. I can offer my advice and suggestions etc, but at THAT time, I believe it is their choice as an ADULT and I would always, no matter what, under any circumstance, love my child unconditionally!

But while they're little, I'll say it again, it is OUR duty, as the adult parent to guide and teach them. The child is NOT capable of leading their own life

  • @gzus4eva Also, I'm speaking from personal experience. I have a son and a daughter. They are exactly 12months and 6 days apart, so actually they grew up extremely close to one another. She experimented with his things, he experimented with her things, as little 1 and 2 year olds and 3 and 4year olds etc etc, do! HOWEVER, as the PARENT, my role has been to continuously guide and direct and redirect them to what is natural for their gender. That's what you do to help them understand who they are!

  • All ppl are born unisex. I've known tons of boys who used to play with their sisters Barbies sometimes and I've known tons of girls who used to play with their brothers toys and even dressing up like the opposite on occasion. But it is the PARENTS duty and responsibility to DIRECT and to continually direct the child in the correct path. You can't give into everything they say and think! They are the child! YOU are the parent! YOU lead and guide! They NEED the correct guidance! I am just amazed!

  • They'll be screwed if they turn out to want to be the other sex again. I used to be a tomboy and hated girly things, but I'm the exact opposite now.

  • This is why people should not reproduce.
