This is one of the reasons why I love Devin Townsend's singing/music so much. He has so much variety and so many different styles to offer. He can be aggressive and angry in his approach, but he can also be peaceful and laid back as well. This is such a gorgeous song. Dreamy, emotional vocals and excellent choice of chords. Nice video too. I love the various views of the galaxy/universe.

Devin Townsend is the most metal... being... ever to have existed.
He is an exeptional producer, also.
What I'm wondering is, ALL of Hevy Devy's music has this real trance sound to it, I always think of space for some reason. It might be keyboards he's using, but whatever.
My question is, I hate it when people say "nu metal," "black metal", and all this branch shit from metal. So, that said, I still want to know what to classify this as.

Good questions. He definitely makes use of keyboards, but a big part of the "spacey" sound comes from his guitar setup (see v=cQxeYQt1OAs). I think a lot of those ambient sounds you hear on Ziltoid are created using a guitar.
As for the genre, I classify this as Alien/Coffee metal. ;)

As a truck driver who drives at night I drink many cups of joe. I just purchased Ziltoid and it also helps keep me alert! Alien/Coffe Metal!LOL...Love it! Thanks AtOne...whens the next Morbid Angel album coming out?

To be honest I'm not exactly sure, but I think it should be out early 2009. Whenever it is, I'll be a first day buyer for sure. ;)
And I always have Ziltoid with me when I'm on the road. Good driving music. :D
