I went to college with David - he was a freshman while I was a senior - I knew he would distinguish himself in some way. His talent was evident even as a student. So sad to hear of his untimely passing. My condolences to those left to remember him personally.

It has been many years since i've heard this splendid piece of music, and despite the unfortunate cut-off point, i am happy to have picked this particular rendition: it has just the right amount of drama, an excellent tempo and is VERY professional!! Thanks for posting this.

@HolyMotherofGrid thank you! you're welcome. it was great working with david while he conducted one of his favorite composers.
fyi: i've posted the second part of it too. it's rienzi.....2/2. it should be on the right-hand column. dumb youtube limited the video size to 10min. just before I got back from Austria to post these. so, i had to find the best place to cut/edit/splice it (also my other vids. of that summer on youtube). i hope you like the second half too.

Rest in peace David. We will miss you here in Charleston SC.

@141sully Ditto. I'm very glad I got to get to know him and be under his baton. The first time when I played in Charleston one time, and then at AIMS here - that's me playing principal trumpet - and then being in the audience a few times in Munich. He will be missed!
