Dan Janzen imagines a future handheld DNA reader which when given any part of an animal (feather, skin, bones) could name the species.
For instance, dip it in a river and see what kinds of frogs and fish live upstream. Or give it a feather and see what bird has been flying in the area. Or lick it and see if you're coughing on account of the common cold or Ebola.
DNA barcode reader for the iPhone anyone?
@extragubbe well forgive me Mr Mockery... but when i last looked around me, i see everyone thinks their govt is out to protect them!
