Review below.

Story: An RPG offshoot of a popular series. A new metallic substance has been discovered that enables robots to acquire new special powers. When these metals are stolen it's up to the Maverick Hunters X and Zero to discover what happened and get them back.

Pros:
Great for the Mega Man fan who wanted an RPG-crossover
Numerous styles of attack for different enemies
Much too short a storyline

Cons:
Forced to do stages in a specific sequence, can't pick your own order
Random encounters seem to happen often
Battles with regular enemies take longer than you'd expect

Overall rating: 6.0/10

While I found this game somewhat enjoyable, it is much too different from the original 2-D stage select style of gaming to really hold my attention. It's set up like a basic RPG, part is an over world where you run around trying to achieve objectives to continue the story, and another segment where random encounters initiate battle modes. Now I enjoy some great RPGs, but this one really doesn't add up in my book. The storyline is easy enough to follow but it doesn't have the pizzazz of fighting Dr Wily or even Sigma. The boss battles are actually quite difficult and for me are the most enjoyable part of the experience. I believe this game also has the option of hooking up a Gamecube to GBA cable to get a special radar feature. I give this game a 6/10 because while it did have a fairly good battle system and hard bosses, it wasn't nearly as enjoyable as the original MM and MMX series and I probably won't be playing it again.
