An update on my progress. I was dianosed with underactive thyroid in October of 2009. Gained 60+ lbs and slowly started to manage my levo dose.

  • Has any of your doctors suggested that you take natural dessicated thyroid medicine; ie. Armour -- which contains all the "T's T0, T1, T2, T3 and T4. Since Levo only contains T4 and depends upon your body to convert it to T3, most people on Armour Thyroid feel better since it contains T3. I have been finding that most people I have met who are hypo do not convert T4 to T3 properly. Has any doctor thought of this? Also, do you follow Mary Shomon's site? She is considered the best in the US.

  • @parrothead7507 I dont use Armour because I am vegetarian. I have seen her stuff a bit but tend to stick to NHS reports

  • hello! do you have Hashimotos? i do and i am doing the GF diet, it has helped me a looot! What i hate is that Doctors, etc. are not giving the right importance to this kind of diseases.

Take care! and thank you for sharing your story! :)

  • hey there just been watching you vids. I got an underactive thyroid i was diagnosed in dec of 2010 but doctor is keeping me in the dark about test results and stuff. i am currently on 125mcgs of levo and still my levels are still getting worst last lest my tsh level was 69 when will i get better ????

  • We have a lot in common. My heart goes out to you and I am so thankful that you're starting to feel better now. You may want to look into a book by Julia Ross, called The Diet Cure. She's a big advocate for amino acid therapy and it has truly changed my life. It works beautifully for people with hypothyroidism and what's even better is that the therapy isn't for the rest of your life...it's temporary with lasting effects. She's very well-written and gets to the point quickly.

  • Raising a child while dealing with hypothyroidism... To the woman who do it I take my hat off to them. I can barely dress myself in the morning let alone chase after a child. The thought is terrifying! Isn't hypothyroidism hereditary? Such a hard decision to make as a woman.

  • @goodgriefyou I think weight management is going to be one of my hardest battles with it all. Luckily I am on a monitored plan so slowly weight it coming off.

  • @Manyshapes thanks for the support.
