Step 1: Add water in inkstone and dip water sparingly with a clean brush.
Step 2: Start writing within the contour lines of the strokes of Chinese characters in moderate speed. If the amount of water is excessive, the strokes will be flowing out of the contour lines. Try to use less water.
Step 3: Repeat writing different characters while waiting for water evaporates in minutes.

In China, people practice calligraphy in Traditional Chinese Characters as printed inside this booklet, not the simplified versions as used in their daily pen writing. Though the name of the product is printed as 精制水写本 in Simplified Chinese Characters, the contents for practice are all in Traditional Chinese Characters.
