wind-aided solar-powered drawing machine (with bells)
solar panel, found objects, wire, concrete, bells - 2007
This drawing machine makes use of solar power & wind. The prop, driven by the solar cell, has wire hanging from the blades. As these spin they strike the wires holding the pencils. This can be heard as the continual tapping in the audio. The props themselves are a little too flat to produce much airflow but their spinning adds vibration to the structure overall. The flat surfaces and fins on the piece catch a little of whatever breeze is present, adding to the pencil movement.
