@TheViva11 When I'm judging I look first for the dog which best represents its breed standard both in conformation and movement. Then I look for the 'star quality' that all the great show dogs have.It is often easier to pick the winner than to choose the runners up.

when judging I look for the dog which is most correct to the standard of its breed. It also must move well and once these requirements are met I look for the star quality which cannot be defined but jumps out at me,sometimes from the moment the dog enters the ring.

@lagalagny Yes I know but what do they look for in a dog to be the winner?

@silentbroadcast I agree with what you are saying. However, I think that these types of dog shows are acceptable and capable of "showing" the breeds too. Sure, it does not test their intelligence or agility, but it shows how physically well-built they are and how well they resemble the character of the breed.

As a dog lover, I only request pet owners to think about what the dogs feel. Would parents parade kids with food to keep them obedient, and have strangers judge them?
Dog shows should let dogs play and adapt to new tricks, and then judge them on the basis of how smart they are, or how obedient they are.
They have more character than most of us.
That is worth showcasing and rewarding.
That would speak highly about each animal in the show, including humans involved.
That's just my opinion.
All the dogs look good and did well. How do they choose?
