What's happening to our much-loved town? We need investment urgently. That includes the new Option A ferry terminal and a new ferry. And it means a viable funding solution to save the historic Jubilee Pool lido. We don't need our local MP Andrew George undermining Penzance by suggesting that the government cuts funding for the ferry terminal!

  • @MrJohnd1977 I would hardly call it a dirty stinking hole. have you had a walk around Redruth or Camborne lately? Sure some of the shops are closing down but on the whole it's a great town. Morab/Penlee gardens plus the prom!

  • @adrianI was born in pz and lived here all my life...pz is crap now

  • Sadly I have seen all thes eshops close, however many of the empty shops featured are now open again under new guise's. That said and done, Currys, will be gone on the terrace shortly, FACT. Another big player leaving a run down dirty town. I grew up there and have never seen the place looking worse, dirty stinking hole. The lack of any level of development and investment in Penzance is one of the main causes for the demise. Whats the future - 2012 - R.I.P.

  • Our town is terrible already this year 3 shops have shut

  • You think this is bad try living in Morecambe. A town that used to have loads to do and shut everything down.

  • I never could see the point of a pool beside the sea anyway!

  • PZ has 1) relied heavily on tourism with all the low pay and seasonality that brings 2) not marketed itself as a place to do or provided land for commerce (in part due to vocal NIMBYS/tourist industry) 3) not shouted loudly in Whitehall for a motorway and a fast rail link to London.

  • same thing happening in St Ives; they closed our 40-year-old day centre for the elderly, the tourist information, now they want to close six blocks of toilets........the saddest think is West Cornwall hospital....I was on the march last Saturday

  • we need to bring people into the town!

Plus there is no competition between shops therefore shops become overpriced, customer service goes down, and no new ideas are used!

Oh and Tesco's the biggest leach of all but I see that everyone still shops there!

  • . . . . . Adding to my last comment. . . . .Don't get me wrong, I love Penzance and love how the whole town comes together for Mazey Day. . . . . .And I always clear up after my dog.
