What If? Episode 9

*Liz's POV*
I was in total shock...I mean, who could ever expect that!? I couldn't.....! I didn't know what to do. I thought I started to have feelings for Nick but I was sure they would pass but now I don't know. Maybe I do, maybe it was supposed to happen. Joe has a girlfriend and since I have no chance I get Nick. I just didn't know, I had to go with my heart....which was pretty confused at the moment.
"Liz, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done that.....that was totally uncalled for..." Nick stated as he got up and plopped into his chair. I didn't answer right away, I was still trying to process this in my head.
"I can tell you're a little confused or maybe even mad, but I just wanna say I'm sorry and it will never happen again.....really." Nick said.
"Nick....." I hesitated but then continued. "Nick, you don't have to be sorry. I just took it as a shock, you know? I'm not mad, just surprised. Ok..?"
He looked down but looked back up with a blank expression. "It's Joe, isn't it? You still like him, don't you?"
"Like I said, its just surprising and I'm a bit confused right now. Maybe if you give me some time...." I couldn't finish that sentence. Not yet anyway. We stayed silent for a minute but then someone burst through the door.
"Nick, dinners done......" Joe said. He looked at me then back at Nick. He squinted his eyes and looked straight at Nick. "Am I interupting anything?"
Before Nick could answer I butted in. "I was just about to leave. Bye Nick," I said as I walked out the door and headed downstairs. I wasn't going to get into that. I'll let them handle anything they need to deal with.
I sat down at the dinner table next to Kevin. He looked at me and smiled.
"Hey Liz, whats going on?" He said.
"Ehh....nothing special, I guess." I said. I don't think he knew about anything so I decided to keep quiet about it until I was sure.
"Well, thats not what I heard...." He said, smirking.
"What did you hear?" I asked, nervously.
"I'll talk to you later, my moms here."
"Oh, ok. Talk to you later then?" I asked.
"Yea, after dinner." He said as he got up and brought plates and silverware to the table. Then I heard footsteps coming down the stairs. Joe and Nick appeared in the dining room, together. Joe looked mad and Nick looked sort of satisfied, he was smirking too.
"Go sit down for dinner..." Mrs. Jonas said from the kitchen. Everyone sat down. Before sitting down Nick and Joe watched each other to see where they sat. I ended up sitting next to Kevin and Nick. Joe sat across from me. Awkward. Very awkward. Dinner was silent so I was glad to finish. Joe and Nick cleaned up while me and Kevin went out onto the porch to talk.
"So....?" I asked, anxious to hear what Kevin had to say.
"Nick and Joe told me everything." He said, chuckling. "You've got brothers fighting over you."
"Fighting? Over me?"
"You sound shocked." Kevin stated.
"Well, I kinda am.....truthfully." That was the truth. I sorta knew Nick had a thing for me but Joe?
"Now you know." Thats all Kevin said. Right after he said that he walked back into the house. I sat there, looking at the cars passing by. One by one. Then my cell phone went off. I had a text from.....Nick. I hesitated but gave in and opened it.
Liz, I understand what you said before. I totally understand. You need time. Take as much time as you need, but just to let you know I care. I'm always here for you.
I closed my phone slowly and put it on the railing. What to do, what to do?
I needed to talk to a friend. I decided to call Kali. She could help me.
"Hello?" Kali asked.
"Hey, its Liz." I answered.
"Liz, whats up?" She asked.
"Well, I have a problem. With Joe and Nick." I said as I walked off the porch and sat on the curb.
"Oh no. Feelings for both of them, and they like you back?"
I love it that she always knows whats happening.
"Yea, exactly that." I said.
"Thats a big problem. Sorry but I have to go, we're going out to dinner. But I'll call you later." She said.
"Oh, ok. Talk to you later." I said as I hung up.
I put my phone back into my pocket and put my head in between my knees. Then I saw a shadow coming from behind me. Someone sat down next to me and turned to look at me.
"Why are you out here all alone?" Nick asked, smiling at me.
"I don't know...." I answered.
He looked down. I think he knew my problem. "Yea. I see," was all he said.
He started fidgeting again. He was nervous.
"Well, I thought about it." I said, trying to break the silence.
His face brightened and he loked up at me.
Really, I hadn't made up my mind yet, but I couldn't bear to see Nick like this.
"And...." He asked with curiousity in his voice.
Since I hadn't made up my mind I had to improvise. It took me a while but I came up with an idea. I leaned in and so did he and our lips crashed together.
