You obviously dont know how Honda design their engines. Honda engines revs alot to produce power, meaning repetition of the upward and downward cycle of the pistons.
In this increased rates, the normal rate of lubrication for the piston walls (under normal conditions) now becomes insufficient or a higher risk or insufficient lubrication (as well as cooling).
Honda incorporated oil squirters in vtec mode to ensure protection hence the smoke.

@mrspencerkeeling1 lol why do you think its wrong is the question? in japan it was called a CRX Del Sol. I should know because I have 2 sitting outside my house... both from japan. Only in some places it was called a Civic del sol. Call it what you want it's still a cool car

car looks good though.. i mean theres no such thing as a del sol type R but it definately looks good.. the exhaust note is too raspy in my opinion though

there is a type R delsol, just not known as a type R as they did not come up with the name till after they released the delsol and vtec became standard a bit more 1996 on i think, but the crx in genaral was ahead of its time as was the CBR1000 bike they made, the fastest bike at the time when the RR came out! in 1995 honda just got very clever with they designs and engineering in genaral!

also the transtop fron a jp delsol , that why this is a lefthand drive transtop type R delsol 200whp :)
