that said, a great video. regular canadians speaking candidly. it it true we can't win, and in fact we're aren't winning. every year the number of afghans tolerating our troop presence is less and less because afghans are so alarmed by thing like village bombings and checkpoint shootings. this is not a humanitarian mission. only 10% of the total budget is for things like food and shelter. this is really just another american started one. we create our own enemies in afghanistan

people who support the war in afghanistan are essentially supporting the deaths of innocent people. from october to december 2001, almost 3000 innocent people lost their lives from US bombing. in every other year thousands were killed. forward to 2007: 2000 civilians lost their lives in afghanistan, half of whom were killed by NATO forces. in the first half of 2007, NATO killed more innocent people than insurgents according to "USA Today". and so far this year, civilian deaths are up 60%.

9/11 wasn't the full reason Canada went into Afghanistan. We told the states that not only we won't go into Iraq, but almost put in laymen terms said we condemned them for going. If we (as a nation), then the states would be force to build bases of their own to look after their national security (just how they help with ours). Terrorist know that we have a hard time looking after our own borders. We do have to show not only the states, but the world that we can defend ourselves when needed.

I think this is a bunch of shit....the troops think its a good idea being there and that is the truth...Canada has accomplished a lot in afghanistan since the beginning of the war...but since the raid on the prison and the freeing of the taliban prisoners Canadian Foreces will be having another "hot" summer...but show some respect for the soldiers.

if you dont agree with the war than be mad at the politicians NOT the troops. if you dont support the troops you should get the fuck outa the country you useless bastards.
don't forget that the NDP showcased a female member of parlament from afghanistan that said nothing has happened since 2001, but if nothing happened and women were treated that same way as in the past, how was she elected a member of parliment, in a society that women were treated not as equals, but as nothing???? All to their own, make your opion by yourself, but take into the facts before you do

Actually, twlober, all the veterans in the film have been in combat, including Cpl. Oslund, who returned from Afghanistan just before I interviewed him. There is more than one opinion expressed in this video. But some of the strongest anti-war voices are from veterans who have seen combat. That should make you think.

In making this movie, I realized that soldiers are for the most part trying their best to help. Nothing I've seen has convinced me that military intervention is the best way to help in Afghanistan though. Maybe if we stood up and objected more forcefully to the Americans who funded the Taliban, Osama and Saddam in the first place we could better help those people.
