@ajasyd Really? Do you know most Broadway singers? Because I am a theatre singer and I know very many theatre/Broadway singers and MANY of us are classically trained singers who have found careers on B'way/theatre stages in the US and around the world. Every B'way show does not require this type of training or singing. It doesn't mean the singer CAN'T do it, it just means the show does not require it.

Maybe you have to be an opera-lover to appreciate this version. I am an opera lover and think Renee and Bryn's rendition (here and especially on the CD) is fully worthy to stand beside the classic Brian Stokes Mitchell and Audra McDonald version on the original cast album of RAGTIME.

@ginoseast123 Well if there were no microphones, we wouldn't be able to hear them. It's called the magic of modern recording equipment. I guarantee that audra and brian use microphones on stage, while I've never seen a microphone on Renee and Bryn on their professional performances.

@TheKymil pronunciation issues? Both Terfel and Fleming are accomplished in vocal diction, which takes away any impure vowel sounds, such as "chewing dipthongs" or extending mixed vowels. I must say, I do love Brian and Audra, but this is a video of real veteran singing experts, as opposed to "actors who can sing" (although quite well). ajasyd is also very right about their projection.

@ajasyd Have you even HEARD the original?? What's wrong with you?
These cats may be able to hit notes perfectly, and while yes that's glorious, there are some glaring pronunciation issues. Give me Brian & Audra any day of the week.

Two great singers here. The thing is, they come from, and have been trained in, the operatic tradition, and not the musical theatre - there's a difference. Arguably, they don't need the microphones but are using them purely for the recording, and not out of necessity for the audience. Bryn, by the very power of his bass baritone voice, can overcome the orchestra, as can Renee - a lyric soprano who, by definition, should overpower the orchestra too.
Lovely song. Thank you for uploading it.

@BirdmanDeuce26 Who's saying to sing EXACTLY like the originals? There is no connection of emotions with this song that the singers are doing....ur not supposed to copy the original artists but you ARE supposed to give the correct emotion that his song Deserves
Most Broadway singers can't hit and hold a note perfectly nor can they be heard over an orchestra without microphones taped to their forheads. Give me an opera singer singing show tunes any day over an over-amplified note-sliding Broadway singer.
