Toots's music is always between a smile and a tear; Belgium can be really proud of this great musican, who is also a wonderful person that has the respect of so many colleague musiscans and filmmakers... Great composing by the Duke also...

We were at the Jazz Bakery in Los Angeles and at the break we were having a glass of wine in the lobby. Toots came in and walked over and started chatting. What a thrill! You can't get any better!!! Oh yeah---up walks Quincy Jones who had been chums with Toots for 40 years. It was such a treat to share in their reminiscences of days in their youth.. It will be a evening Madelyn and I will never forget. Jerry
