Visualisation of the data generated by traffic light systems and GPS probe vehicles over a 24 hour period in Sydney.
This video shows some of the data sources that power the SUNA traffic service collected on the 24th of June 2011.
The video includes:
- Flickering traces represent the raw data from GPS tracked vehicles (over 3.5 million data plots). This raw data is further refined and matched to digital maps by SUNA to determine prevailing traffic conditions around the city. Traces are coloured red to signify significant congestion, orange for medium level congestion, and green for no serious delay.
- Steady points represent monitored traffic light sensors (over 3,600 intersections with more than 9,600 approaches). Data is reported by sensors in each lane, on every approach to an actively networked signalised intersection. The points show the average (non-directional) congestion level and are coloured red to signify significant congestion, orange for medium level congestion and green for no serious delay.
- In the final seconds Icons are displayed representing the traffic messages transmitted to navigation systems at that time.
may I ask what software did u use for this visualization?
