From Lully's tragedy "Persée" Act V, Scene 8, when Perseus, accompanied by Cephée, Cassiope and Andromede, petrifies Phineas and his followers showing them the head of Medusa.

"PHINÉE & SA SUITE.
Qu'il n'eschape pas, qu'il perisse,
Cét Estranger audacieux
Qui pretend regner en ces lieux:

CEPHÉE, CASSIOPE, & ANDROMEDE.
Ciel! ô Ciel! soyez-nous propice!

PHINÉE & SA SUITE.
Qu'il n'eschape pas, qu'il perisse.

CEPHÉE, CASSIOPE, & ANDROMEDE.
Deffendez-nous, ô justes Dieux!

PERSÉE, parlant à ceux de son party.
Ne craignez rien, fermez les yeux,
Je vais punir leur injustice.

Persée, Petrifié, Phinée & sa Suite, en leur montrant la teste de Meduse.

PERSÉE.
Voyez leur funeste supplice.

CEPHÉE, CASSIOPE, & ANDROMEDE.
Quel prodige! quel changement!

La Teste de Meduse a fait leur chastiment."
