Nebraska Association of Student Councils (NASC) State Convention 2008

"Leadership is Reality...You Be the Star!" brought 1100 students to Papillion-La Vista South High School on October 17, 2008 for the State Student Council Convention. Highlights of the day included: A Parade of the 70 schools in attendance, a message from NSASSP President Ryan Ruhl, Keynote Speaker and former contestant on the reality show "The Apprentice" Troy McClain, Election of the new NASC State Officers: Pres. Chevi Kouakou, VP Trevor Woodward, Sec. Britney Bochart, Motivational speaker and chalk artist Bob Upgren, a presentation by Nebraska Make A Wish honoring Nebraska stu-co's for their $55,000 in contributions, an exhibition hall, mini-sessions, and leadership networking opportunities, and awards including: Outstanding Student Councils, All State Stu-Co, Principal of the Year (Trent Steele), Warren E Shull Advisor of the Year (Kyrie Nehls), Ron Joeckel scholarship winner (Mike Schiavone), Don Darnell award (Susie Sisson) and a presentation to the outgoing 2008 officers Pres. Mike Schiavone, VP Matan Gill, and Sec. Cheyenne Gunther.
