Observation(s):
- Mobile phone red light runner (red tally=36)
- Taxi pulling out on Hindley Street
- Really nice Lotus, West Terrace
- Motorcyclist speeding, passing, footpath riding
- Truck passing

Later that evening
- Older male, speeding mobile phone driver
- Rear end collision scene (tally=14)
- Dequetteville Terrace Roundabout
- Car accident (South Terrace)

Conditions: Great, mid 20's Celsuis

Date/Time: Friday, 20 Mar 2009

Current Road Toll:

What: Driving Diary (12 month experimental project)

Where: South Australia

Why: To record 12 months of my life driving, and in the process reflect on my own driving behaviour and to possibly highlight how other ppl's behaviours can impact negatively on us. Accidents can be so easily avoided.

Sound: I only keep one CD in the car and change that weekly, so there will be some repetition. GPS also makes a few sounds and audible directions.

This is for educational (not punitive) purposes, it is my belief that citizens shouldn't police other citizens.

  • What's the name of the song at 5m39s ?

Nice power sag at 5m52s to the camera.

And yes that's a lotus exige earlier. I've seen a few of them here. Very nice car which corners well due to its low curb weight.

  • well at first I thought it was the result of direct sunlight disappearing and reappearing behind a tree - but it appeared to be way more than that - so yeah, think it was some zippy sag :)

that song is Paul Kelly & the Coloured Girls - 'to her door' - really good song and really captures the essence of a certain part of australian culture

  • 3:25, In Japan, cars have to stop once to zero-meter and drivers have to look left and right(there is a fine if not doing and seen by police) to check whether the train is coming or not, even if the gates are open and the signals telling `no trains coming`, after all its machine and can go wrong anytime...is what they say, when having a driving-license test.

  • Man... i am from serbia and this things are also very often... But not as on the video.... I still dont have a driving licence cause im twelwe but i would not drive like those fools... U driven correctly... Nice driving dude....

  • It is lotus elise cc... Or woxol.. Im sure its one of them....

  • WTF is that guy at the enf of the movie in the road? O_o

  • lol sounds amusing! but yeah I do agree with you because they do have better skills and better behaved but just like car drivers here, they also do bad things though! like 50/50 they speed and weave in and out of cars! also they dont wear protective gear, again like 50/50! lately they have been good here except like two days ago their was a guy trying to do tricks in traffic!

  • (x2) and I've observed most bike riders in my city are pretty good - in fact they are better behaved than car drivers.

Last year, driving near the airport, a car driver threw some rubbish out of her window at a set of lights - a bike rider came along semi-got off his bike and threw the rubbish back in her car. It was so amusing :)

  • gee, that would have been some scene to witness, esp as a new driver. Your age shouldn't have been a factor in being a witness though (although I don't know your local laws) - so I can't say that really.

Motorcycling I think is relatively safe (I feel), but it's doing it

among other cars and traffic makes it unsafe. Most bike riders also have more of a skill set than car drivers - and when bike riders are in cars driving, they are usually better equipped (in my opinion).

  • by the way I meant uncontrolled! lol

  • also he was bleeding from his head and had very nasty road rash! when cops came they wanted to know what I know but I told them I dont know exactly who is at fault but I think both! they sent me home! probably because I was only 17 at that time!

nice lotus! the white car did seem to know taxi was going to go so it slowed! also I dislike when people go slow and you start to go around then they speed up! phones are illegal here if it impairs driving! any weaving or such thing!

  • nice vid and collection! keep the great vids coming!

motorcycles creep me out ever since I saw an accident happen next to me! he sped up to me and then move to middle lane where there was a suv. next the the motorcycle sped up to move around suv but suv move to left lane at same time and the motorcycle clipped median and rolled off bike onto median that had many rocks! suv and me slam on brakes as the motorcycle is on controlled! he wore no protection and it was a friends new bike!
