Pre-race coverage begins with the superb Jack Whitaker and Woody Broun offering their perspectives, along with the great Chic Anderson going over the race chart particulars.
Stay tuned for the CBS broadcasts of the 1973 Kentucky Derby and Preakness, as well as many other broadcasts from the past.

  • Bless you, cf! Having watched the coverage the day it happened (and home being his home of Caroline Cty, VA), it's wonderful to be able to see it again. I too am amazed that CBS hasn't released a higher-def version of the coverage that day.

We will never see this happen again - he not only had a bigger heart from a physical standpoint, but emotionally as well.

  • @GrnEyed81 Thank you kindly for the nice comments. Merry Christmas!

  • Great job !

  • Thank you kindly. :)

  • Thank you wholeheartedly, cf1970. So great to see and hear this as people witnessed this on that historic June 1973 afternoon on CBS. It's particularly great to see/hear the man himself: Chic Anderson

  • You're welcome. I just wish CBS offered a higher quality version available for purchase, as this kinescope does not do this historic event justice.

Chic Anderson was such a class guy; a real pro. He and Frank Wright looked especially dapper in their classic suits.

    God bless, and thanks again.

  • Nice jacket!

  • I had just graduated from college, on campus picking up some items, and preparing to move on to my future. I stopped into the student AC and caught this amazing event. I'll never forget it...
