from what i understand they die after they bear fruit. i think that totally sucks. is there a way around this?

hey i got a banana tree 1.29.11 the stem is covered with a brown husk like not green but i can tell there is a green stalk under the brown. would you suggest taking off the brown husk or leaving it alone. it is about 18 inches tall with one leaf and about big as a fist on bottom and big as a nickle on top

youre not supposed to fertalize that much. it will burn them! i water mine every two to four days when the begin to dry. i fertalize mine about once a month with that same fertalizer maybe twice but i FOLLOW the serving amount on the back please reply back to me!

@RockNRococo because the root is still alive even tho the plant is dead the root will continue and immediately sprout new trees to keep it alive

What do you do with the plant in harsh winter of ohio? Just curiosity.

if they are in the ground, they have mulch piled about 3 feet around them, and 2 feet high. but the potted ones sit in my basement with almost no light, and they get watered about once a month untill spring (late april- mid march)
