SPOTTED: An Orang-utan nesting and swinging on Neolamarckia cadamba (Common name: Laran). Laran is one of the fastest growing pioneer tree species that is being replanted at the northern part of Ulu Segama Malua Forest Reserves (NUS) in Lahad Datu, Sabah, Malaysia. Other pioneer species which are being replanted in this area are the Octomeles sumatrana (Common name: Binuang) & Pterospermum spp.(Common name: Bayur).

The trees that you see in this video were planted as part of a reforestation programme in April 2008. The nest built on the Laran tree is by an individual as it is commonly known that an Orang-utan individual normally builds one nest per day.
