4-16-1994. Rare one...again.... This is one of his last two 40 pt gms. He was traded to the Clippers by the Hawks midseason while ATL was having a great season, screwing both him and themselves up in the process. He played for nothing of importance for the rest of his career. Scored a lot on the SA team that tanked to get Duncan. As for the Lakers, Magic took over for former coach Randy Pfund and promptly lost 11 straight at the end of the season, including this game. LAC lost 11 of 12, so not exactly a clash of titans here, but a lively game just the same.

  • Have you watch clipper games since the michael cage days? and yea it was a dumb trade. Manning went to phoenix after atlanta cus i guess Dominique and Danny had expiring contracts. So neither team resigned them. But either way dominique was still in his prime and better then Danny. Do you by any chance have any other dominique wilkins games as a clipper? thanks again :)

  • Diaz23 I'm a Laker fan, but back in the early 90s, I watched more leaguewide ball. Danny left for PHX after he was trying to force Sterling to trade him there, that's what I was sayin. Hawks got zero value back and they knew he was pretty much out the door. Nique was in danger of slippage at the time, but my bone is about banishing him to the lowly Clips in the only real chance of a title run of his career. I've never seen another full LAC gm w/ him in it. I do have a 95 LAL/BOS gm up, tho.

  • An LAC gm I saw was a 150-101 L @ SEA in April of 94. I distinctly remember changing back and forth to MTV for updates on Cobain's death. I recall them playing hard as hell (legit 48 min effort) w/ Bill Fitch at the start of 94/95 and still losing their first 16. A memorable Hawks gm from 94 was vs GS; Spree won at the buzzer. GS had the ball out of bounds under their rim and Spree suddenly broke for the corner 3 and got the ball all alone, Hawks got faked out. Mookie had a career year in 94.

  • Dam this was a dope game! Dominique was still ballin!!! im a clipper fan but they shouldve never traded danny manning for dominique wilkins. Wilkins was wayy better and manning was a bust in the playoffs and dominique wilkins endofhis carrer went to waste :( He shouldve been traded to a championship contender. But either way dope ass game nice to see mark jackson, ron harper, loy vaught, nick van exel, vlade all the old school cats. keep posting these classic gems!

  • @Diaz23 I don't have the at ATL game, but I watched the Clipper feed that night (crowd was cheering against the Hawks). I also watched the Hawks in 94 on the Turner networks. They were clicking, easily Nique's best opportunity at getting to the CFs or Finals. F'd up trade. If they were gonna trade him, they shoulda done it the year before instead of sending him to the Clippers. PS: Manning was crying all year about wanting to be traded to Phx in 94. Where did he wind up after leaving ATL?

  • Can a comparison be made between current L.A. Clipper Blake Griffin and Dominique Wilkins?

  • Old ass Rambis still out there lol!

  • Damn..sounds like a Laker home game.you could hear a roar everytime the Lakers made a basket and/or a good play..

  • @DavoBirmingham

Absolutely...best record in the East and PERFECT STORM to finally make a legit run at the Finals, and they trade their best player. Just dumb on all levels.

  • That SA team didn't tank to get Duncan. That wouldn't be until 1996 nonplayer. But yeah, the Hawks very well could've been in the ECF against the Knicks...trading Nique was just dumb. Not even in hindsight...I just remember thinking, "WHY DANNY MANNING!??!" He wasn't even a game changer for the Clippers

  • Oh my gosh! I had forgotten than Dominique had played for the Clippers! I left California in 1993 after graduating from college, and since I was in South America, didn't have satellite/cable tv Lakers games. I don't see Worthy nor Cooper here so I imagine they may have been on the injured list at that time. Wow, great post Nonplayer! Thank you!

  • @nonplayerzealot4 the boston vs la game is that the last game that was played at the Boston Garden and nick van excel hits that 3 pointer at the buzzer to seal the victory???
