Akumal beach is about 5 minutes north of the Bahia Principe resort.
They put man-made wave stoppers about 200 feet from shore. On windy days it's really fun to swim out to them and let the surf break over you.
Rent my 2 bedroom house for $350 / week 3 minutes south at Xcacel beach!

Bavaro beach is great,just got home.
Going to Playacar in Feb. Are the waves as big.

is this akumal beach ?Looks like a good place to swim. I've been to Playacar and maroma beach and there is too many waves. Waves almost did me in last time.

Both beaches are just GORGEOUS! I would say Bavaro beach is better because it doesnt have that rocky surface under the water.
