think i may have said this before here, but MAN how i wish this was brian lamb as interviewer and it was a decade ago.

I don't think Oprah did a bad job. I mean I hate Oprah and absolutely love McCarthy but McCarthy never gives interviews and is very shy so to get him to open up, just a little, is a good job.

why does she have to ask the most boring and obvious questions?!i understand nwhy doesnt give interviwes

its interesting that his speech during the interview is pretty simple when his writing is very complex and linguistic.

i actually think McCarthy had a couple of interesting things to say. it's just blatantly apparent that McCarthy and Oprah are operating on two vastly different intellectual levels and Oprah didn't know what questions to ask or where to go with the interview to get any profound commentary on literature or the human condition etc. etc.. her questions were so facile and embarassing and really insulting that there was no way to get anything captivating or deep out of McCarthy.
