Forever Joick/Jick story Ep 1

Mrs Lucas knocked on the Jonas' front door, Nick had been in their care for two days and it was his first day at his new school. Denise opened the door; she was surprised to find her neighbour and a boy at her door.

"Good morning Denise, this is Nick." she smiled down at the boy beside her; although Nick had not made any attempt to bond with the family, Mrs Lucas was in her own form of bliss. She had always dreamt of having a child of her own but was unable to get pregnant.

Denise smiled down at Nick; she had received multiple text messages from Mrs Lucas since his arrival but had not had the privilege to meet him until now.

"Hello Nick, I'm Denise. Have you settled in alright?" Denise held her hand out for Nick to shake, but Nick just stared at it until she pulled it back. He did not like touching people unless he had to. Denise brought her hand back, embarrest that her offer of greeting had been ignored.

"I was wondering if he could walk to school with Joe. It's his first day." Mrs Lucas smiled, silently praying that Denise would agree.

"Of course, I'm sure Joe won't mind. Come on in."
"Thank you, but I've got to get to work, I'm already late. Have a good first day Nick!" She called as she scattered to her car. Denise ushered Nick inside and had him sit in the living room as she went to get Joe.

Joe stepped into the living room, having dressed himself for school. Denise had told him about Nick.

"Hi, I'm Joe. You must be Nick." Joe extended his hand, and much like before, Nick ignored the offer and simply stared. However, Joe did not pull his hand away. Nick looked up to meet Joe's eyes; Joe raised his eye brows and smiled, still waiting for Nick to shake his hand.

Nick kept the gaze for a moment before looking back down at the hand stretched towards him; Joe wriggled his fingers and smiled. Nick sighed to himself and reluctantly took the hand.
