This film was taken in Italy on April 24, 1907. It is the first time a motion picture was ever shot from a plane in flight. The footage shows what it was like to fly on one of the early Wright craft, with Wilbur at the helm. The clip opens with the launching, then the plane climbs, levels off, and passes over the flight grounds.
@tifosaurus The above film is with the 3rd production version of the Wright's Flyer III "A" model. The 1st production unit Flyer III "A" was at the time in Pau, France where Orville was giving flying lessons. The 2nd production Flyer III "A", Orville had crashed at Ft Myers, Virginia on 17 September, 1908. Orville's passenger, Lt Thomas Selfridge, died from head injuries while Orville received serious injuries hiimself.

@Shagohud Just so you know, Santos Dumont had absolutely "nothing" to do with the invention of the airplane as we know it today. The FAI, the official record keeper for ALL aviation flights and records, states that "Clement Ader" of Paris France was first to have an unassisted takeoff on 3 October of 1890. Orville Wright was the first with an unassisted takeoff in a machine capable sustained/controlled flight on 17 December, 1903. The film above is from "1909" by the way.

Well, it really shows how difficult it was to control that aiplane.Notice the correction movements of the canard elevator. The airplane was unstable and anyone who was flying with it was risking his life. But those people who flew these airplanes were really pioneers (along with Santos Dumont).Amazing video, thanks for the upload!
