One of Bahrain's most popular landmarks, the c 400 yr old Mesquite Tree in the desert. The mystery of how it has survived in the desert has become a legend, standing on top of a 25-foot-high sandy hill, approx 32' high.
Archaeological excavation work started a year ago by the tree and what appears to be a fort or temple has been unearthed, dating back to 500 years ago or more....
A soil and tree ring analysis conducted more than 20 years ago by historian Dr Ali Akbar Bushiri concluded the Tree of Life was an Acacia planted in 1582 AD
Quite some tree. Because it's standing so close to a ruin of an ancient temple, one would think that there's possibly a well, an underground water supply. As far as I know, there are a lot of water sources under the surface of the desert. Forgive me when I'm totally wrong but again, it's a possibility. Anyway, it's a very interesting tree.

@MultiRec I think you might be right there...which accounts for the ancient ruins being ...a deep underground water supply...in the desert! Maybe the tree was used as a sign post or marker for travellers?
