Introducing Babel No More: The Search for the World's Most Extraordinary Language Learners, a book about polyglots, hyperpolyglots, multilinguals, language learners, and monolinguals all over the world. Called "a mesmerizing voyage" by Kirkus Reviews, "a linguistic cliffhanger" by Martha Barnette, of A Way With Words Radio, and "the first serious book about the people who master vast numbers of languages—or claim to," by The Economist. "You'll be awed by the incredible characters in this eye-opening book," says Josh Foer, of Moonwalking with Einstein.

  • BABEL NO MORE is certainly a wonderful and exciting book, but it needs some kind of sequel volume, since important polyglots like Mario Pei are not even touched upon.

  • @alkantre Thanks for all of the video commentary that you've been posting; it's been very good for my Spanish. Yes, there are quite a few people I wish I could have included; everyone has their favorite. Harold Williams. Vernon Walters. I had considered designing a pack of polyglot playing cards, like baseball cards -- collect all 225 of them. I know that Alexander Arguelles' book about polyglots has an extensive set of mini-biographies, and I have encouraged him to publish that.

  • @babelnomore Yours is one of the most interesting books I've read during the last few years! I guess 225 is still a relatively small number. I certainly hope that Arguelles will also publish his book! It seems there's a great deal of virgin territory left with respect to works on hyperpolyglottery.

  • I'm here from the HTLAL forum, where there is a good thread going about this, and it sure is nice to see "one of our own" get the recognition he has earned!

  • He was our trainer at RELC and we all love and respect him! He is so knowledgeable, and he is a great teacher.
