I have all of his known recordings.

Several great British singers of Charles Craig's generation were rarely recorded comercially. Thankfully we have live recordings as a testimony to this fine tenor. The highlights disc of 'Butterfly' with Marie Collier and Operatic duets with Joan Hammond are worth hunting for.

I saw his Manrico [wow!] and his Otello [double wow!]

L'ayant entendu en scène dans ce rôle et dans Turandot, je confirme : il fût l'un des plus grands ténors du siècle, un vrai tragédien lyrique également .

He was not underated he was very much enjoyed by a huge audience and had a big following, people seam to think if your not one of the three tenors your "underated" he sung in nearly all the major houses, including many major roles in CG, and sang with Callas....underated ...i think not !

A fine singer. Underrated in his own country. such a lovely sound and thrilling in the role of Otello.
I have to agree with Madgeson I corresponded with Charles Craig and he was on occassion treated badly by 'the establishment' here in the UK - however abroad it was rather a different story
